Here’s what some of them have to say about the Devon Park experience…
- “One thing here is the way the light changes during the day… I love it in the evenings when the low angle of the light hits the ships and the buildings across the harbour.”
- “I think it’s such a lovely spot – and it’s so quiet. You don’t feel as if you’re in an apartment.”
- “In the summer I love being able to go down to the pool and read; chat with one or two other residents; sunbathe a bit; have a dip – I just love it.”
- “The place has obviously been well maintained and managed over the years… it looks better that many apartment blocks built in recent years and there’s a real sense of pride in the place.”
- “I never thought I’d enjoy living in an apartment – I came from a large house in the country, but I do. When you’re at the pool you feel as if you’re living in a luxury resort, the gardens are beautifully kept and now that the kids have all gone their own ways, our apartment is just right.”
- “I used to have all the typical worries of the average home owner – time to mow the lawn, again. When to clean the gutters. Which part of the garden needs weeding and so on. I got to be a regular handyman. But now the gardeners and the building manager look after all that ‘outdoorsy’ stuff and I don’t have those worries.”
-
“There are a few rules – yes of course there are, but it’s in all our
interests that we keep the place as good as it is. There’s nothing
there that the owners haven’t all arrived at democratically over the
years…
most of it is common sense I reckon.” - “It’s cozy. It’s quiet. It’s beautiful. What’s not to like?”
Devon Park is situated on a prime 8093.7m²(2 acre) cliff top site, set among attractive gardens and lawns and surrounded by fine homes. The cliff is clad with native trees and shrubs and bush pathways lead to a private jetty. Local parks and beaches, a cinema, shops, restaurants and cafes are all within easy reach.
Devon Park is a complex made up of the 12 story central block anchored by two low-rise wings each with 15 apartments; the East Wing has three floors, the West Wing has two. In the tower there are four apartments per floor, each on a corner, with views in two directions. The eleventh floor has two sub-penthouses with 180º views: the penthouse has 360º views.
By today’s standards the apartments are large and the simple free-flowing spaces lend themselves to updating.
Over the years many apartments have been refurbished; with their extensive glazing and amazing views as starting points it is not difficult to create a stunning contemporary living space. For owners contemplating alterations there are Body Corporate Renovation Guidelines to ensure that the original vision of the complex is maintained and the operating functions work as they should.
It is not surprising that Devon Park attracts international purchasers, and many of them use their apartment as a summer residence. But it is also not surprising that those choosing to live at Devon Park permanently find it a haven that is hard to leave.
